I managed to get down to Old Goldern Black Industries last week, to take some photos of the Doughnut (the name of the local freight)

Included in the train today are a covered hopper, one boxcar and a Soo line Bulkhead flat.

UP GP35 # 1249 is the power for the Doughnut today

Due to the size of the run-round loop, the last car had to be left under the old bridge.

1249 is uncoupled from the covered hopper.........

.......and runs forward past the switch.

Once the road has been changed

1249 runs back round the hopper and...

.. the 60' boxcar.

With the switch reset...

.....moves back....

.....and couples up the the bulkhead.

1 Once coupled 1249 and flat car....

.set off, back, around the first two cars...

....and back on to the loco release , so it....

....can make its way to distribution centre.

Wooh.... that'll do....

Once uncoupled the engine pulls forward..

and picks up an empty boxcar...

...from the goods in warehouse.

There isn't much room..

The conductor moves the switch from the warehouse road...

...back to the main...

.. so the boxcar car be pushed back up the loco release.

With the road now set back the conductors grabs a ride...

.. and changes his hat...

A loco and freight car only just fit.

Off we go again back to the other end of the train

Another member of the train crew gets ready...

...to reset this set of points ....

....as the train goes by, so it can back up and push...

..the hopper and loaded boxcar...

....in to the loco release siding.

Steady ....

With big cars such as this hopper and..

...this boxcar car, there isn't much room for error.

With the hopper and boxcar uncoupled 1249 runs back with the empty car.....

....along the main..

.....and uncouples...

1249 then runs back around the empty..

...and couples up to the other two cars...

...then pulls them back along the loop....

...so that the road can be set from the hopper unloading point.

Backing up along this siding has to be done very slowly...

...due Old Goldern Black Industries staff working nearby...

Once in place the hopper is uncoupled..

and the crew set of with the 60 footer..

..back along the loop...
